Dr. Vladimir Sloutsker CV
Vladimir Sloutsker has extensive experience in politics and religious relations, in particular in working on Jewish-Russian relations and Jewish Diasporas.
From 2002 to 2010, Vladimir Sloutsker was a Senator in the Senate of the Russian Federation. During this time, Sloutsker served as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Policy and Relations with Religious Organisations within the Russian Federation.
During his time as Senator, Vladimir Sloutsker became the Chairman of the Russian Jewish Congress, as well as the Vice Chairman of the European Jewish Congress. The focus of these roles was to strengthen and develop the Jewish community within Europe, with particular attention towards Jewish communities in Russia. He served in these roles from 2004 and 2006. In 2008, Sloutsker joined and had lead the European Friends of Israel. This group has more than 1,500 members of parliament from across the world who are Friends of Israel, making it the largest organisation of its kind. Upon joining the Congress, Sloutsker helped organise the first policy conference of its kind in Paris, involving 350 Parliamentarians from across Europe. This was a demonstration of their support for Israel, and to strengthen the relationship between Europe and the Jewish state
In 2012 Vladimir Sloutsker launched the Israeli Jewish Congress, an independent, Israel-based organisation (Sloutsker also re-located to Israel in 2011). The goal of the organisation is to support the principles of Israel as a Jewish state, as well as supporting the Jewish diaspora across Europe. A key goal for the group is to ensure that the Jewish community has a voice with Israeli officials and lawmakers.
As part of his work with the Israeli Jewish Congress, Vladimir Sloutsker launched the European Forum of the Knesset, which focused on diplomatic and trade relationships.
Vladimir Sloutsker studied at the High Institute of Transportation Technology in Moscow. Sloutsker gained his PhD in Civil Engineering Before entering into the world of politics, he was the director of several successful businesses.
